Because I'm still very new at the cupboard I had the weekend off. I think it was so I didn't get in the way.
Saturday was very lazy. I had a couple of "maybe I should do something " moments but mostly I just laid around and napped. I knew Phil was coming in, in the evening so I felt like I was just waiting around. I was watching a bit of Olympic rowing when he rang the door bell. We had a good evening, grabbed some food, caught up on the last couple days, hung with the fam.
Sunday we got up somewhat early and got breakfast at this local place called McCoys. I had some delicious raspberry cream stuffed french toast. And to work that off we went on a nice leisurely bike ride mid morning. I'm not great with distance but I think we did about five miles. After we returned and showered we hopped in the car an headed up to Estes Park. It was a nice little drive. Phil had gotten a room at the historic Stanley Hotel, the inspiration behind "The Shining" so we wandered around there for a bit before making our way to the whiskey bar. We ate dinner there and it was amazing!! We had a cream cheese rainbow trout dip as an appetizer which I was a little skeptical at first, but it was quite tasty. Being at the hotel that inspired "The Shining" I of course had to try their signature redrum punch. Three types of rum with pineapple juice and grenadine? Yes please! Oh and dinner. Holly would have been foodgasming for sure. Phil had a steak (man food ya know?) and I had rack of lamb with veggie melody. The lamb was REALLY good but the highlight of the meal was the side dish. This vegetable melody the spoke of, again I was skeptical.. It was some kind of white beans, zucchini , squash, probably a bit of mire poux and some stuffing-esque spices. I know it doesn't sound all that amazing, but it totally was.
After dinner we wandered a bit more and found a butterfly hatchery, with butterflies hatching! Apparently they hatch throughout the summer and every Thursday the staff at the hotel gather and release them to make room for the new hatchlings. It was really neat! ( see photos at the bottom)
Monday we ate at the Egg and I, and while I know these exists in AZ I had never been to one. They had super breakfasts. Since we were all fueled up we took off further into the Rockies to Grand Lake. A tiny little tourist town nestled in the mountains so deep you can only access it during summer. It's a natural lake and it's gorgeous!! We moseyed about for a bit and then headed back to ole FC.
Driving back over the tundra, which is the point above the timber line where trees can't even grow, there was fresh snow! In July! It was pretty cool to witness. Also up in the tundra was a herd of deer. One of the females wandered right up to the road as if to greet cars as they came over the pass. It reminded me very much of the beaver welcoming people to Canada. So I got a good laugh out of that. I took pictures of that as well but they're on my actually camera and I don't have my computer set up so I'll add those in to a post at a later date.
The rest of the day past uneventfully. We came home, made turkey taco and watched the Olympics. It was a fantastic weekend! Although miss my bubbykins Eko, I'm still very excited to be in Colorado and looking forward to mine and Carolyn's new apartment in a few weeks.

My reputation precedes me.
So today was my second day at work and I was asked to make a cake :) I gladly accepted.
It's been fairly routine the last two days. Wake up, go to work, come home. Normal :) I've been going to bed early and waking up early. Hanging out with the "other" Ericksons. I'm very much looking forward to life here. I've captured and successfully frozen the first "bug" to join the bug collection I've decided to start. It was a spider I found in the tub whilst attempting to shower this morning.
Little things made me miss home today. My mom was kind enough to let me know that Eko misses me terribly, which made me sad. Knowing that he's going to love it up here kept me from getting to upset though.
Then I hard boiled some eggs for snacking and didn't realise that I put Honey Bears initials until after the fact. It made me think of her and hope she is doing well.
I put a few pictures at the bottom (I think). I'm not sure how they show up since I have a hard time editing on my phone. I'll keep writing as things happen, or I'd they don't, but if you all keep reading, I'll keep writing :)

Success!
Ten years ago my little 16 year old self wanted to move to Colorado. 6 moves, 10 years, 3 boyfriends, 8 or 9 pets, 1 heartbreak and 969 miles later I've finally done it! I drove the last day and a half all by myself and did something just for me. I'm incredibly happy and can't wait to start living life!

New
Today begins a new journey. As I prepare myself to go, I think about what I'm leaving. Last night was a wonderful last night with friends and family, all of whom I love and am extremely grateful for.
I will miss all of the craziness of everyday life in Arizona. From hiking the mountain with my amazing sisters to making bullfrogs with Holly to just hanging out with the Girls. While I will certainly miss all of this, I am so incredibly excited to move. I feel like this is just what I need. Some people have mentioned that it's a chance to start over. I don't really see it that way. I'm not getting this new life, I'm just adding a new chapter to the one I already have. I have a great life! Its just time for a change.

Morning Musings...
Hello there, It's been a while hasn't it. So I recently moved back in with my parents to save some money before the big "grow up and move out on my own to a whole new place for a whole new life" thing. My ancient grandmother who probably has dementia also lives at the folks place. She has a hard time, well, with everything really. My Mom, who works nights, usually gets home within the 7 o'clock hour. This makes for some very interesting wake up calls for yours truly who sleeps right down the hall. I had mentioned a few of these to my friend Holly, who in turn said I should write them all down.
So here are a few tid-bits of everyday life in the Erickson house hold. What I like to call Things That are Actually Kind of Sad but If You Can't Find the Humor In Life, What's the Point?
-Mom coming home from work "Mom?! Where are your pants?"
- Grandma while I'm helping her get undressed for the shower "Before we go any further, What is your name?"
"It's me Grandma, Marcia"
"Oh...I have a niece named Marcia"
"No. You have a grand daughter...Me"
At this point she just nodded and smiled.
- Mom, again, coming home from work "Why is there a dining room chair in your room!?"
- and just today. I get home from the store and Grandma is sitting at the table. I am making lunch in the kitchen 10 feet away for 20 minutes before she pipes up:
"Hello? Is any one home?"
"Yes, Grandma. What do you need?"
"Well I need to file a report."
"For what?!"
"Well this morning I had a partial."
"A partial what?!"
"Bowel Movement."
".....ok. Anything else."
"Well, no."
"....ok..."
"I'm going back to bed."
"Ok Grandma."
